All domesticated breeds of cats originally evolved from Felis sylvestris lybica. We named our company Lybica Ventures as we are hopeful that many diverse business activities will eventually evolve from our humble beginnings with a global reach and impact.

Lybica Ventures officially started operations in 2020. Led by a Malaysian scientist with multiple patents and supported by visionary investors such as the Government of Oman and high net worth Malaysians, the company aims to be a Biotechnology and Life Sciences catalyst with a global reach.

MEET THE TEAM

E. H. UNG

PRINCIPAL FOUNDER, CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Ung has a MSc. with distinction from Stirling University. For the past decade, he has been working on various viruses including Feline Coronavirus. He has been a consultant to ASEAN, the Government of Oman and various private companies in Singapore, Malaysia, China, India and Indonesia as well as the Maldives. Ung is a founding council member of the Malaysian Fisheries Society and the former Vice President of the Malaysian Society for Marine Science. He has also been an invited biotechnology Guest Lecturer at University Malaya for 11 years from 2006 – 2017.

Ung’s keen interest on Feline Coronavirus and food security led to Lybica Venture’s Food Safe Zero Rinse anti-Coronavirus disinfecting agent.

J. T. TAN

CORPORATE AFFAIRS, DIRECTOR

Tan graduated from the Carnegie-Mellon University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He started his career as a Corporate Affairs Officer in Palm Spring Development in 1994 before becoming the Corporate Manager of Crimson Properties in 1995 and subsequently the Chief Operating Officer of Crimson Land Berhad in 1998. In late 1999, he initiated the management buy-out of a manufacturing subsidiary, MCB Industries, from Crimson Land Berhad and became the Chief Executive Officer of MCBI. In 2003, he formed Tungling Group of Companies whose main business is in property development.

As part of a community CSR project undertaken, Tan led and mentored a group from the Community Service Centre for the Deaf to initiate and form a self-sustaining business model or Social Enterprise to sustain their community school for the deaf. Thus “Silent Teddies” was birthed and grew to its present form today as a bakery.

Leveraging on his vast experience in corporate affairs and his passion for helping the community, Tan helps Lybica Ventures achieve its project goals of improving human health and food security through strategic decision making.

S.YEOH

ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Yeoh holds a diploma in Aquaculture and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Nottingham. With a passion for environmental conservation and a particular affinity for water, she specialises in water quality monitoring and analysis. For her thesis, she studied the potential of using freshwater mussels for wastewater bioremediation. Yeoh is also an open water diver, triathlete and mountain biker, and has a black belt in judo.

As the assistant general manager of Lybica Ventures, she is in charge of ensuring the smooth running of the company, with responsibilities ranging from establishing the overall strategy to helping the staff develop their respective talents and skills to form an effective team.
